Read Banned Books.
Right now, the freedom to read is under siege.
According to PEN America, over 4,o00 books have been banned in the past school year. Overwhelmingly, these titles have been singled out for the inclusion of LGBTQ+ voices, sex education, and discussions of race. This is a brazen attack on authors, as well as an attempt to quash the experiences of the readers who identify with their stories.
As a 40 year old independent bookstore, Books & Books is committed to fighting Book Bans, and we invite you to join us as we celebrate Banned Books in the upcoming weeks. Until then, we encourage you to read these titles, and to hear the voices that book bans seek to silence.
