About the Author:
Filled with the love for food at a young age, Adrianne Calvo was born on February 7, 1984, and is an American chef, author, television personality, and restaurateur. Coining the catch phrase, “Maximum Flavor”, Calvo has had an award-winning career as a chef ever since enrolling at Johnson & Wales University, and entering more than forty national competitions, achieving first place in ten, and runner-up in the others. In 2003 at just 21 years old, she also won ‘’Taste Down Under’’, an Australian culinary competition. In 2004, after graduating top of her class, Calvo went on to work at the five Diamond Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami, under executive chef Patrick Lassaque. After leaving the Mandarin Oriental, Calvo took a trip to Napa Valley, California, where she then sharpened her craft under Chef Thomas Keller and Chef Cindy Pawlcyn. This experience ignited the inspiration for her restaurant “Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard Restaurant and Wine Bar,” in addition to her first cookbook. 12 years later, Chef Adrianne’s restaurant is still a Miami favorite and was recently named among the top 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in the country by Yelp. Chef Adrianne has also published three more books and brought her “Maximum Flavor” cooking philosophy to The Wharf, one of Miami’s top entertainment venues, through her Cracked concept, and has just launched two additional casual restaurant concepts at South Florida’s newest food hall, Yumbrella. When she’s not in the kitchen at her restaurants, you can find Chef Adrianne at various charity events supporting her “Make it Count Foundation” that helps inspire young people to do their best and provides meaningful assistance through the healing power of food.
