We had a blast celebrating books & literature during Miami Art Week!
The Books & Books Literary Foundation loved collaborating with artists Antonia Wright and Ruben Millares on “Banned Pending Investigation,” which highlighted the 4,500 book titles banned in Florida schools over the past year.

During the performance at Zilberman Miami, local high school students constructed a wall of books, including many historically and currently banned titles by authors such as Maya Angelou, Aldous Huxley, and Judy Blume. The students then ran through it, tearing it down and metaphorically tackling the barriers that devalue literature in our state.

Then, on Saturday, the students from Guitars Over Guns stole our hearts.

The youth music program held its end-of-semester music performance in partnership with Books & Books Literary Foundation, where the aspiring musicians performed bachata and Bob Dylan, Adele and their own original works.
Afterward, the Books & Books Literary Foundation treated each kid to the gift of a book. Congrats to the students from North Miami and Carol City Senior High Schools and Lake Sevens Middle School, and thanks to the Coral Gables Museum for partnering on the event!

“I love reading, this was the best day! Thank you!”
