MEET A POET featuring

Ranijun Ruado, Sashily Kling, and Triniti Wade

SATURDAYS, SUNDAYS AND WEDNESDAYS IN APRIL

Today: Saturday, April 30  | Meet a poet 3pm – 5pm @ Books & Book, Coral Gables

About the Series:

In celebration of both National Poetry Month and the 40th Anniversary of Books & Books, South Florida-based poets are available to the public at Books & Books Coral Gables throughout the month of April for two alternating micro-residency engagements: (1) Check out a Poet, modeled on the Human Library, wherein members of the general public are invited to spend 15 minutes of one-on-one time with a local poet—hear them read, ask them questions, and develop their own poems under the guidance of a professional. (2) Poems to Order, where poets in residence produce original poems on the spot for bookstore patrons upon request. In addition to our poets, we also place a one-of-a-kind coin-operated vending machine within the store to dispense locally-inspired printed festival ephemera such as stickers that sport the words of local residents. Content incorporates poetry sourced from O, Miami’s vast poetry archive.

Saturdays in April : Check out a Poet between 3pm-5pm

Sundays in April: Poems to Order 3pm-5pm

Wednesdays in April: Poems to Order 6:30pm-8:30pm (Happy Hour with Wine Down Wednesdays)

About O, Miami:

“O,” is a direct address of the beloved. “Miami” is our beloved.

The mission of the annual O, Miami Poetry Festival is for every single person in Miami-Dade County to encounter a poem.

Each festival begins on April 1 and runs until April 30. During that month, we work side-by-side with Miamians to bring poetry to the forefront of civic life, co-producing, on average, 41 events and 23 projects.
