GALLERY NIGHT – ROB HAFF: STREETS OF HAVANA
Gallery Opening Night: Friday, November 3rd, 7:00-10:00 PM |Books & Books, Coral Gables
About the Event:
The “Streets of Havana” exhibit, curated by photographer Rob Haff, endeavors to capture a glimpse of the Cuban experience. This experience has been profoundly influenced by a tumultuous history, which includes Spanish colonialism, capitalist exploitation, periods of leadership under dictators such as Batista and Castro, and the ongoing and debilitating US embargo. Indeed, these enduring economic and political adversities have revealed a people characterized by remarkable resilience.
A visit to Havana today offers a firsthand view of the Cuban people carrying on with their daily lives. Just like people everywhere, they find joy in their love for family and the simple pleasures of life. Through their warmth and open-heartedness towards foreigners and visitors from all corners of the world, they exemplify the enduring human spirit.
About the Photographer:
Rob, born and raised in Miami, was the son of a printer and grew up surrounded by photographers. Since then his love for photography has only deepened and his passions have expanded to encompass the globe.
Rob is now a full-time world photographer focusing on spirit, culture, and place.
Many of Rob’s images have received international recognition and have garnered awards in international competitions. His photography has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Naples Italy, Minneapolis, Middlebury Vermont, Miami and Fort Lauderdale.
