Gallery Night: Carlos Barbón

Carlos Garcia-Barbón is a Cuban-born artist and a graduate of Florida State University with a BA degree in Art and a minor in Art History. 

Carlos has been awed by Coral Gables beauty since childhood, with its well-designed plans, wide streets and old world charm. He is dedicated to documenting the city of Coral Gables in watercolors using the same techniques as that of the old masters, but with a updated contemporary approach. 

Barbón’s watercolors have been on exhibit in the Coral Gables Museum, the Biltmore Hotel, Ninoska Huerta Gallery of Coral Gables. He was commissioned by the Coral Gables Museum for their 80th anniversary signature piece and was recently named “Artist of the Gables in an article by the Coral Gables Magazine. He is an award-winning artist. 

His works have been featured in various publications, most recently the front cover of the Coral Gables Magazine July, 2019 issue. 

Previously the Art Director for Avanti, one of the largest printers in the country creating department store catalogs for Jordan Marsh and Burdines, Barbón now wishes viewers will take a newly inspired appreciation for the City Beautiful.
