Filmmaking in South Florida: Local Successes, Future Challenges
A special evening exploring and celebrating the South Florida film industry – Happy hour, discussion & mixer!
Join some of the leading lights of the South Florida film scene as they discuss their unique careers, making content locally vs. elsewhere, and ideas for cultivating a vibrant local industry, given the fast-changing media and economic landscape. Speakers include Billy Corben (Cocaine Cowboys, Dawg Fight, 30 for 30: The U), Jason Fitzroy Jeffers (Papa Machete, Third Horizon), Michelle Hillery (Palm Beach County Film & TV Commission), Mitchell Kaplan (Books & Books owner and film producer), Tom Musca (Stand and Deliver, Make Love Great Again), Ruth Reitan (Bogart Film Noir Shorts Competition Director & filmmaker), and Julian Yuri Rodriquez (MTV No Seasons, Borscht Corporation). The panel is hosted by the Humphrey Bogart Film Noir Shorts Competition at the University of Miami, Books & Books, and the Coral Gables Art Cinema.
