MADISON SPARKS: Virtuous Nettles

Madison Sparks’s exhibit “Virtuous Nettles” explores themes of intimacy, human roles in the natural world, and the ever-evolving relationship to self. She uses Prismacolors and acrylic paint in each piece to express psychedelic interpretations of the subconscious. Circumspectly applying her skills in both shading and painting to create intriguingly complex characters, Sparks’s works here can be understood here as extensive journeys into the artist’s dynamic inner world. Once these complex subjects are placed in front of surrealist landscapes, the combination stirs feelings of both familiarity and fantasticism in the viewer.

About the Artist:

Madison Sparks, is an interdisciplinary fine artist, educator and international traveler. She currently lives in Atlanta, Georgia. Sparks primarily works with Prismacolors, acrylic paint, and found materials to create otherworldly characters. The fascinating, brightly shaded subjects in Sparks’s work help her blur the line between the beautiful and the grotesque
