About the Artists:
Elyse Littenberg‘s work has appeared in exhibits in Washington, D.C., Florida, New York, North Carolina, also Miami’s Art in Public Places and is in private collections throughout the U.S and England. For many years, she have been working on phases called the Living Series. Her work this year has not escaped the political and tropical disorders we have been forced to endure since November 8, 2016. This is her attempt to cope. Instead of painting just from scratch she has relied on older work from happier days. These works are landscapes on paper and canvas created from paint strips and squares, wax and other organic forms items borrowed from old mono-prints and paintings. In other words, chaotically recycled for 2017.
As a young artist, Laurie Julia attended the High School of Music and Art in New York City, Boston University and Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome, where she earned a Master of Fine Arts. Laurie has lived in Miami since 1985, primarily painting people and places of South Florida. Her work is held in collections of the Cleveland Clinic, Bellsouth, Broward Art in Public Places, the Jacksonville Museum as well as private collections. This series of colored drawings explores images of masks and hidden faces…whether for safety, privacy, health, hidden identity, or dress-up.
