This week we celebrate Raymond Chandler and his classic, hardboiled crime novel, The Big Sleep, published in 1939. Chandler created a complex, noir world in which you don’t know which characters can be trusted. This includes the main character, Phillip Marlowe, the fictional private investigator imagined by Chandler, who remains one of the most recognizable characters in book and film history.
