Artist in Residence in Everglades: Carol Hendrickson
Join Artists in Residence in Everglades’ May Fellow Carol Hendrickson for an author talk, followed by a 2020 AIRIE Application Q&A session at Books & Books in Coral Gables.
Carol Hendrickson is a cultural anthropologist, visual artist and writer based in Vermont. During her residency with AIRIE, she will collect words and images to use in the creation of “anthro-artist’s books” and engage with different constituents of the park—park staff, visitors, AIRIE volunteers, and others—learning from them, joining in conversation with them, joining in conversation with them, and, where appropriate, encouraging or even teaching them how to create their own visual notes. With these different activities, she will engage in a rich mix of conversations and experiences, drawing and writing while in residence in the Everglades
5:15pm – Author Talk
Hear from Hendrickson as she shares insight into her multi-disciplinary process, her current research and her experience as an Artist in Residence in Everglades.
6:15pm – Application Q&A
Following the artist talk, hear from Interim Executive Director Sarah Michelle Rupert about the current 2020 AIRIE Application. Along with current and past AIRIE residents, she will address questions and share experiences of working in the Everglades.
