About the Event:

Join Miami Freedom Project at Books & Books in Coral Gables to kick off Earth Week! We’re hosting South Florida climate organizations to share their upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and actionable change that you can get involved with to build a better Miami. Afterwards we’ll discuss the Everglades and Andrew Otazo’s newly released “Miami Creation Myth” book. The panel discussion will cover the past and present of the Everglades as it relates to indigenous communities, using storytelling to uplift Miami and historically excluded communities, and climate action and policy at the local, state, and national level.

Moderator: Ana Sofia Pelaez (Co-Founder, Miami Freedom Project)

Speaker: Zelalem Adefris (CEO, Catalyst Miami)

Speaker: Dr. Frances Colón (Senior Director, International Climate Policy at the Center for American Progress)

Speaker: Cheyenne Kippenberger (Seminole and Chilean leader and advocate)

Speaker: Andrew Otazo (Author, Miami Creation Myth and local conservationist)

This event is FREE and open to the public. We encourage any and everyone interested in local Miami initiatives and climate action to come and bring their friends for an evening of networking , learning, and getting involved.
