The Café @ Coral Gables
Several rooms of books surround an open-air courtyard that offers seating for The Café. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, from 9:00am until 11:00pm.
Our Bistro style sandwiches (grilled portabello, avocado and cheddar, roast beef, French ham, and others), are perfect compliments for any lunch meeting. We also offer an elegant assortment of lunch trays that include Middle Eastern favorites and specialty salads. For the sweet-toothed, we recommend some of our homemade desserts: Chocolate Mousse Cake, Lemon Merengue, Fresh-Fruit Tart or Mitchell’s favorite, Cupcakes.
The Café's Wine Bar, located at the entrance to the courtyard, features beer and wines from around the world offered by the glass or by the bottle. A free, live music series showcases musicians of all types and genres, including Jazz, African, Latin, Caribbean and World Beat. Every Friday night, in the courtyard, from 7-11pm.
Many of our visiting authors choose to organize pre and post-reading receptions as part of their presentations at Books & Books. The Café can prepare special menus for events, as well as for school visits, luncheons, private receptions, cocktail parties and private dinners. Events are held in our beautiful courtyard, or inside the store, and include our delectable European cheese board with fresh fruit, Vietnamese spring rolls, our ever-popular sushi platter and a crudite tray of raw and slightly cooked vegetables, accompanied by our house made dips. We can personalize a menu to suit any occasion, with prices to meet any budget.
To arrange a special event at The Café, please email our General Manager Sidaros at george@booksandbooks.com
The Café collaborates with us to present well-known authors nationally recognized for their culinary expertise. For example,
Books & Books presented Lidia Bastianich at a brunch comprised of dishes prepared from her cookbook, Anthony Bourdain spoke following a reception for foods from his new Les Halles Cookbook. The Naked Chef Jamie Oliver participated in a live cooking demonstration and performance following a special dinner of menus inspired by his cookbooks. Check our calendar of events for upcoming appearances and select prices.
