City Theatre
This professional theatre company, founded in February 1996, is dedicated to the solicitation, development and production of a genre completely unique to our cultural community -- short (one-act) comedies, dramas and musicals by established and emerging playwrights from South Florida and throughout the nation. The company hosts seasonal play readings at Books & Books to nurture original voices and artists.
Tigertail Productions
Books & Books collaborates with this organization in the launching of their annual Tigertail, A South Florida Poetry Annual, a unique book of poems, written by South Florida poets, featuring and reflecting a different guest editor's taste each year. To date, four volumes have been published, the latest of which is edited by Richard Blanco, and available exclusively at Books & Books bookstores. Founded in Miami in 1979, Tigertail Productions, Florida's pioneer of innovative art, celebrated its 25th Anniversary Season in 2005.
Miami Light Project
Books & Books supports this not-for-profit cultural organization which, since 1989, presents live performances by innovative dance, music and theater artists from around the world; supports the development of new work by South Florida-based artists; and offers educational programs for students of every age. Under the artistic direction of Michael Tilson Thomas, this organization prepares highly-gifted graduates of distinguished music programs for leadership roles in orchestras and ensembles around the world. Rhythm Foundation
This non-profit organization presents outstanding international artists in South Florida. Special focus is given to those cultures connecting to South Florida audiences - music from Brazil, Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Books & Books previews excerpts from children's theatre productions in its courtyard on Saturday mornings.
Art Center/South Florida
ArtCenter operates from its three historic buildings at 800, 810 and 924 Lincoln Road, right across the street from Books & Books in Miami Beach. The nearly 60,000 square foot campus encompasses 52 artists' studios, exhibition galleries, art education classrooms and administrative offices. We partner with them to present The Spoken Word a monthly series of poetry readings and to host author events in their gallery.
