Joanne Hyppolite

Joanne Hyppolite is children's book author and founder of Women Writers of Haitian Descent, a non-profit literary organization based in South Florida. She came to the United States to live in Boston, Massachusetts, at first and is now a Doctoral student of Literature at the University of Miami. Folklore, fiction, teaching and reading stories to children have filled her college and literary career. Published works include Seth and Samona and Ola Shakes It Up (1998). Recent work includes "Dyaspora" in the recently published anthology The Butterfly's Way: Voices from the Haitian Dyaspora, edited by Edwidge Danticat and an upcoming children's book, A Brighter Sun.
