Preston Allen

Preston Allen has been anthologized in Having a Wonderful Time: an Anthology of South Florida Writers, and in Brown Sugar: a Collection of Erotic Black Fiction. His novel, Hoochie Mama, made it to #7 on the Mosaicbooks.com "Hot Books for 2002" at the same time that Brown Sugar was #2 on the same list. Preston is also the 1998 recipient of a State of Florida Individual Artist Fellowship in Literature, a winner of the Books & Books Poetry Prize, and a former host of the Butterfly Lightning reading series at Tobacco Road. His first collection of short stories, Churchboys and Other Sinners, was awarded the Sonja H. Stone prize in fiction and will be published next year by Carolina Wren Press.
He hopes one day to be the most successful Afro-Honduran-American writer who ever graduated from FIU with an MFA in creative writing.
