What do I need to do to buy a Google eBook?
You need to have a Google Account in order to buy a Google eBook because the digital book will "live" in the cloud, or Google servers. All your eBook purchases will be stored in the same place and associated with that specific Google Account.

Creating a Google Account is free, and you don't have to have aGMail address for that. For more information, please check the following page: https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?btmpl=authsub&continue=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Faccounts%2FOAuthAuthorizeToken%3Foauth_token%3D4%252FbOGPqDrjZ2UAjD3QiQjIh5yCF3F3%26hd%3Ddefault&continue2=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fa%2F%7B%7Bdomain%7D%7D%2FOAuthAuthorizeToken%3Foauth_token%3D4%252FbOGPqDrjZ2UAjD3QiQjIh5yCF3F3&spl=true&passive=true&ul=1

How do I read the Google eBooks I bought?
Once you have purchased Google eBooks from our website, you can easily access and manage your purchased titles from the eLibrary page. Since the eLibrary page is synced-up with the cloud, you will find all your GoogleeBooks purchases there. Your most recent purchase will be the one displayed first in the list.

To start reading your Google eBook immediately, just click the ebook cover to launch the WebReader. You can also read your Google eBooks in any dedicated eBook reader that runs Adobe Content Server 4's ePub DRM, including the Nook and Sony Portable Readers. The full list of Adobe-compatible devices can be found at http://www.adobe.com/products/digitaleditions/devices/.

Also, you can download and install the Google Books reading app for free on the iPhone or any Android phone.

Instructions for using e-books vary by format:

Google eBooks
Once a purchase is complete, you will be directed to download your Google eBooks from your Account page, where their e-book files will be found on the My eBooks tab. From here, you can read your e-book in the web-based Google Books reader, or any device with the Google Books application.

You have the option to download an Adobe Digital Editions version of their Google eBook purchase, which can then be transferred to a Nook or Sony Reader mobile reader device.

Palm
Palm format e-books can be read on any iPhone, iPad or iPod touch through the free eReader application, which must be installed in advance of purchase. You will purchase and download the Palm e-book from our site through a mobile web browser. Once purchased, click the download link and the ebook will open automatically into the eReader application. There is also an eReader desktop program, so these books can also be read on computers. You can purchase and download the Palm e-book from our site on their computer, then open with the eReader desktop program.

Adobe Digital Editions
Adobe Digital Editions files are readable on a computer through Adobe’s free program also called Adobe Digital Editions. The Adobe Digital Editions software is required for using Adobe Digital Edition files. Adobe Digital Editions files are also compatible with the mobile e-reader devices Nook and Sony Reader, by transferring files to the appropriate device when connected to a computer.

Here are the steps for each device:
The e-book files will download automatically after purchase into the customer’s default download location. Once the Adobe Digital Edition file is downloaded, double-click this file to open in the Adobe Digital Editions reader. At this point the book can be read on a computer through the Adobe Digital Editions reader.

Nook instructions:
Once plugged in, the Nook will appear as a device under the customer’s Bookshelves. From here, the customer can simply drag and drop the ebook file from the Library to the device icon. Once the device is ejected, the purchased e-book will appear in the Nook’s inventory.

Sony Reader instructions:
Sony Reader users must also use Sony’s free Reader Library program to interface with their device. There are separate instructions for PC and Mac users.

PC users:
Connect a Sony Reader device and open Reader Library. The device will appear in the Reader Library menu as Reader. Reader Library will ask the user to associate any EPUB files (which includes Adobe Digital Editions files) with Reader Library by default —if Sony Reader is the sole device the customer plans on using, choose yes.

Import files into Reader Library by choosing File > Import Files from the menu. Once the downloaded titles appear in the Library, the customer can simply drag the titles from the Library to the Reader. Once the device is ejected, the purchased e-book will appear in the Sony Reader’s inventory.

Mac users:
Connect your Sony Reader device and open Reader Library. The device will appear in the Reader Library menu as Reader. Reader Library will ask you to associate any EPUB files (which includes Adobe Digital Editions files) with Reader Library by default—choose no. Import files by choosing File > Import Files from the menu. Rather than the default download location, the appropriate Adobe Digital Editions files will be found in Documents > Digital Editions. Once the downloaded titles appear in Library, the customer can simply drag the titles from the Library to the Reader.
