Family Day on Aragon -- Karma Wilson -- Bear Says Thanks
Start: 1:00 pm
Family Day on Aragon: Books & Books joins forces with the Coral Gables Art Cinema and the Coral Gables Museum every Second Saturday of the Month to bring you special programming for the entire family. Start with a film at the Cinema at 11am, continue with an author event at the bookstore at 1pm, then visit the Museum for a tour of their newest exhibit, interactive crafts and activities to follow. Stay for lunch at the Café at Books & Books where special kids items include MAC & CHEESE. Here’s what you’re in store for at today’s reading: Bear has come up with the perfect way to say thanks--a nice big dinner! When Bear decides to throw a feast, his friends show up one by one with different platters of delicious food to share. There's just one problem: Bear's cupboards are bare! What is he to do? Karma Wilson's playful text and Jane Chapman's charming illustrations bring to life Bear Says Thanks, a celebration of family and friendship. Young readers will delight in discovering the special gift Bear has to share. Karma Wilson has had more than 30 books accepted for publication. Many of those are on the shelves of libraries and bookstores around the world. Her books have received numerous state and national awards, been translated into dozens of languages, and a few have made an appearance on the New York Times bestseller list. Karma sincerely hopes that her books bring joy to children and families everywhere.
Crissa-Jean Chappell -- Narc -- Gables
Start: 6:00 pm
"You're going to hate me forever when you learn my secret."  Seventeen-year-old stoner Aaron Foster was offered a choice: go to jail or turn undercover narc to find the dealer who's funneling drugs into Miami's Palm Hammock High School. But Aaron has never been good at getting close to people. He's human wallpaper, a stoner wastecase who's obsessed with video games and street magic. With a cop from Narcotics breathing down his neck, Aaron gets himself invited to parties where the deals go down. To get close to the school's biggest players, Aaron lies to everyone--most of all, the cute but troubled Morgan Baskin. With the Everglades party on Halloween night--and a planned drug bust there--just days away, Aaron realizes that he's falling hard for Morgan...and trying to protect her could cost him everything in Narc (Flux, $9.95) by Crissa-Jean Chappell.
